Kate Adie to address Meat Business Women

23 July 2015

Kate Adie to address Meat Business WomenAward winning journalist and author, Kate Adie OBE, will address the second Meat Business Women networking seminar on Wednesday 30th September at Ironmongers’ Hall in London.

Adie, who is most famous for her role as BBC’s chief news correspondent, is ideally placed to give an insight into how she has forged inroads for women working in the media and pioneered reporting from the frontlines for BBC. She is also the long-serving presenter of Radio 4’s From Our Own Correspondent and a guest on many other radio and television programmes.

Adie will be second high-profile speaker to address the group, following the keynote speech delivered by World Cup-winning rugby captain Katy McLean at the group’s first event held in March.

She will be joined by Kantar Worldpanel’s consumer insight director, Lucy Balls, who be presenting on some of the practical factors affecting the meat trade generally and providing an insight into female and male consumption trends, both generally and with a focus on meat too.

Laura Ryan, event organiser and head of strategic marketing for AHDB Beef & Lamb, said: "Our first event was a great success and provided a platform for communication across the supply chain, which we wanted to build with our next seminar.

"I am convinced that women play a key role in retooling the supply chain and Meat Business Women can help achieve this. Through its commitments to increasing awareness and highlighting career opportunities, proactive groups, like Meat Business Women, can help attract more female talent to the meat industry. I’m really looking forward to hearing Kate speak and share her own professional experiences with the group.

"Lucy will also make an excellent addition to the event. Her insights will provide valuable information for our participants, who represent all levels of the supply chain from abattoir onwards.”
