Third Meat Business Women event set to help females reach their peak

The third networking event for women working in the UK meat industry will take place at Ironmonger’s Hall in London on May 25.


Leading UK adventurer Bonita Norris will address the Meat Business Women group on how delegates can "reach their peak” by moving outside of a comfort zone to achieve goals through marginal gains.

Being the youngest person to reach both the summit of Everest and the North Pole, Bonita will convey the lessons she’s learned about personal leadership and endurance and, having taken on some of the toughest expeditions possible, will share her insights into managing challenges.

Now in its second year, Meat Business Women is the professional networking group for females working within the meat supply chain from abattoir onwards. The group promotes enhanced relationships with others with three key objectives: to nurture new female entrants in the sector, assist in making our industry attractive to female talent, and skilfully improve networking.

Laura Ryan, event organiser and sector strategy director for AHDB Beef & Lamb, said: "After our last event, we received some really encouraging feedback from delegates, and it demonstrated that there is a strong appetite for an outlet like this for women working right across the meat supply chain.

"The previous seminar was focused on opportunity - the opportunity for ensuring women can progress in this field, the opportunity to attract new female talent and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on retooling the supply chain to ensure it continues to grow. We, therefore, felt a logical follow on from that was to look at some of the challenges women working in our industry face and how they can harness them to achieve their goals to add value to themselves and the industry in which they work.

"I’m really looking forward to hearing from Bonita, as someone who has achieved so much at such a young age I feel she will inspire members of our group, whilst offering practical advice on how to overcome a challenge and turn it into a prospect for development and success.”
